Hobby Families,
As we continue settling into the school year, I am proud of the progress our students are making each day. They are learning classroom routines, building relationships with their teachers and classmates, and becoming more confident in what it means to be a Mini Aviator.
These first weeks are about building the strong foundation that will carry us throughout the year. Every day of learning matters, and your partnership in getting students to school on time, ready to learn, and encouraging them to do their best makes a difference.
Thank you for continuing to partner with us. We are looking forward to another great week of learning and growth at Hobby Elementary!
With appreciation,
Maribel Barrera

✈️ Flying to Greater Heights: A Strong Start to the Year!
Welcome to a new school year at Hobby Elementary! As we begin our journey of Flying to Greater Heights, we are excited to partner with our families to ensure every Mini Aviator is known, supported, and challenged to grow.
One of our first important steps is Beginning-of-Year MAP testing, August 31 - September 4. MAP provides valuable information about what our students already know and where they need additional support or challenge. Our teachers and leaders will use these results to identify learning priorities, plan targeted instruction, and ensure we are responding to the needs of every student.
Thank you for partnering with us as we begin a year focused on achievement, growth, and belonging. Together, we’re ready to soar! ✈️💛

Dear Families,
We are here to help ensure your child receives the support they need to be successful at school. If your child has an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from a previous school or district, please send a copy of the paperwork to our Compliance Specialist, Dr. Tracy Duck, at Tracy.Duck@yesprep.org.
Sharing this information with us as soon as possible allows our team to review your child’s needs, plan appropriate services, and put the necessary supports in place throughout the school day.
Thank you for your partnership and for helping us provide a smooth and supportive transition for your child. When families and schools work together, we can ensure every student feels welcomed, supported, and prepared to thrive.

Wayfinder Curriculum in Core Enrichment – Library
Dear Parents and Families,
We are excited to share that during Core Enrichment – Library this school year, students will participate in the Wayfinder curriculum. Wayfinder is designed to support students in developing the skills, mindsets, and habits they need to grow as confident, capable, and connected learners.
Throughout the school year, students will explore and practice a variety of Wayfinder skills through engaging lessons, activities, discussions, reflection, and collaboration. These skills will help students better understand themselves, build positive relationships, make thoughtful decisions, and navigate challenges both in and outside of school.
Students will have opportunities to develop skills related to:
Self-awareness and identity
Collaboration and communication
Empathy and understanding others
Problem-solving and decision-making
Goal-setting and perseverance
Building healthy relationships
Leadership and personal responsibility
Reflection and personal growth
Our goal is to create a supportive environment where students can learn about themselves, connect with others, and develop skills that will serve them throughout their school experience and beyond.
We look forward to partnering with you as we help our students grow not only academically, but also as thoughtful, resilient, and empowered individuals.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
If you received a letter at the end of the school year or during registration indicating that your child had immunizations that were past due or due over the summer, please submit the updated immunization records to the school ASAP.
Please make sure any outstanding immunization documentation is turned in as soon as possible so that your child’s school records can be updated and remain in compliance with school requirements.
Thank you for your prompt attention and cooperation!
