Dear HBE Families,

At HBE, I take great pride in teaching our students that we are a family. A strong school family is built on kindness, respect, and the understanding that every person brings something unique and valuable to our community.

This month has been a wonderful time of celebrating different cultures, traditions, and backgrounds. These moments provide meaningful opportunities for our students to learn about one another and to appreciate the richness that diversity brings to our campus.

At HBE, we encourage students to treat others — especially those who may be different from them — with kindness, curiosity, and respect. We want our students to embrace what makes each person unique rather than fear or exclude it.

These values begin at home. The conversations you have and the examples you set play a powerful role in shaping how children view and treat others. Together, we can help our students grow into compassionate, inclusive leaders.

Thank you for partnering with us in building a caring and respectful school community.

Warmly,

Serra Moore

Dear Families,

I want to celebrate the progress happening across our campus! Every day, our students are growing in their learning, building confidence, and rising to higher expectations. We see their hard work in classrooms, in discussions, in problem solving, and in the way they are pushing themselves to improve. It is something to be proud of.

Thank you for partnering with us, your support at home, encouragement, and commitment to ensuring your child is present every day makes a tremendous difference. Daily attendance and consistent effort are key to the strong growth we are seeing.

I also want to give a special congratulations to our 3rd graders! They recently completed their second Reading Common Assessment, which serves as their final major practice before the STAAR. We are excited to share that we saw great progress across the grade level. Their dedication and perseverance are paying off, and we are so proud of them!

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead. Our Math Common Assessment will take place next Tuesday, and we are confident our students will continue to show their growth. Please continue encouraging strong effort and daily attendance so they feel prepared and confident.

We are proud of every student and grateful for the partnership we share with our families. Have a wonderful and restful weekend!

Warmly,

Maribel Barrera

Hobby Elementary Spring Family Conferences

Dear Families,

We’re looking forward to connecting with you during our Elementary Spring Family Conferences, which will take place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, following early dismissal.

To support family schedules and flexibility, teachers may begin meeting with families as early as February 6. These conferences are a valuable opportunity to review your child’s progress, align on academic goals, and plan supports for the remainder of the school year.

All families who would like to meet with their child’s teacher will be accommodated. Conferences will be held in person whenever possible, with virtual or phone options available as needed.

We appreciate your partnership and look forward to meaningful conversations that support your child’s success!

Dear Families,

Our school is committed to supporting every child’s academic, social, and emotional growth. Here are a few simple ways you can reinforce learning and kindness at home:

  • Encourage independence with small daily tasks.

  • Talk about feelings and ways to show kindness.

  • Use games and play to build problem-solving skills.

  • Read together and discuss characters’ emotions.

  • Incorporate music and movement for fun learning.

  •  Model small acts of kindness each day.

These simple activities help strengthen the skills your child is learning at school.

Thank you for partnering with us to support their continued growth and success.
