As we move into March, we are especially excited to celebrate Reading Month! Let’s continue to foster a love for reading and learning as we embark on another month of growth and new opportunities.

Bus transportation for eligible pre-K 4 students

We have great news! Starting in the 2025-2026 school year (SY 25-26), YES Prep will offer bus transportation for eligible pre-K 4 students. This update makes it easier for families with younger children to get to school safely and on time.

Who Qualifies for PK4 Bus Transportation?

To be eligible, PK4 students must:

Have a sibling in kindergarten through fifth grade (K-5) attending the same YES Prep elementary school.

Live in the same household as their K-5 sibling (as verified in Skyward). Extended family members like cousins, aunts, or uncles do not qualify.

If the sibling attends a YES Prep secondary school, the PK4 student will not qualify for transportation.

For safety, all PK4 students will have assigned seating on the bus.

How To Sign Up

Families who want transportation for their PK4 student in SY 25-26 must complete the Transportation Registration Form in March 2025.

Returning families will complete the form through Skyward.

New families will complete the form through SchoolMint.

Why Are We Expanding Transportation?

We know how important reliable transportation is for families. Expanding our bus services to PK4 students will help more students access a high-quality, college-ready education at YES Prep.

READING MATTERS!
Helping Your Child Succeed in Elementary School

Why is Reading Important?

Reading is the foundation for all learning! Children who read daily:

-Build stronger language and communication skills

-Improve comprehension and critical thinking

-Expand their imagination and creativity

-Perform better in school and beyond

How Can You Help at Home?

Read with your child for at least 20 minutes a day

---Talk about stories and ask questions

---Visit the library and let your child choose books

---Encourage writing and storytelling

---Make reading fun with games and activities

What is Special Education?

Special education is a program designed to ensure that students with learning challenges or disabilities receive the individualized support they need to succeed. Each child is unique, and special education helps us meet students where they are, whether they need adjustments to the curriculum, one-on-one support, or specific resources to thrive academically and socially.

If a student qualifies for special education, we work closely with families to create an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or a 504 Plan. This plan outlines specific goals, services, and accommodations that will support the child’s development and learning in a way that suits their strengths and addresses any challenges. These services might include specialized instruction, speech therapy, counseling, or other supports tailored to their needs.

Our goal is to create an inclusive learning environment where every child feels supported, valued, and able to reach their fullest potential. Special education is one way we help all students grow and succeed."

If you would like to request services for your child, please complete this form.
